FAQ

Q: Peek sucks! It doesn't work!?

A: 50% of Peek problems are solved by simply restarting the iPhone, the
other 50% are taken care of by reinstalling Peek.

Q: How do i reinstall?

A:

1. Press and hold the Peek icon until it starts to wiggle. Tap the 'x' on the icon and confirm its removal.

2. Download Peek from iTunes or from iPhone App Store (you won't be charged twice)

3. Enjoy Peek!

Q: Peek Starts but just keep on loading?

A: Peek needs to know where you are. You have to enable "Location Services" in your settings pane.

Q: It still just says "loading?

A: You have to have a internet connection (Edge, 3G or Wifi) for Peek to work. Check your connection. Still doesn't work after you have checked it, check it again.

Q: How the heck do you work this thing?

A: The first screen you see is for entering user information and there is a complete set of instructions at the bottom of this page. You may also find these instructions on the “info” page.

Q: Is PEEK only available on iPhone and iPod Touch?

A: At this time yes. However, we are strongly considering creating PEEK for other mobile platforms as well as a web-based version.

Q: Do I have to enter my real name on the profile page?

A: You can enter your name, your dog’s name or the name of that idiot who stole your lunch money in school. It’s completely up to you.

Q: How do I know there will be PEEK users near me?

A: Your screen will always show the nearest Peeksters – whether they’re in the same neighborhood or the same hemisphere.

Q: I got a message from someone I didn’t see on my screen. How did this happen?

A: This happens because the users closest to you and to the other person are not always the same. There will be some overlap as well as some differences. However, once the ‘mystery peekster’ sends you a message you are free to respond or ignore them just like anyone else.

Q: Is there any way other users can find me?

A: Other users will have access to your general distance and direction but not your exact location… unless you give it to them.

Q: How do I know where I end up when using HyperPeek?

A: HyperPeek takes you to a random part of the globe. Touch the surrounding dots to get an idea of where you are.

Q: When I use HyperPeek, why do the same people show up on my screen?

A: This happens when there are only a few people using PEEK at a given time. This has been an issue sometimes in the days shortly after PEEK’s release and it will go away by itself when there are more users.

Q: Why can’t I see a full history of all my conversations?

A: The intention behind PEEK was to give users a great deal of anonymity. We felt that if people knew their conversations and photos could be catalogued by others, they might be less inclined to converse freely. However, we are also committed to listening to our users’ suggestions. If enough people want a certain feature we will gladly do our best to create it.

Q: Why does a user in another country appear closer than someone in
my own?

A: This has to do with the fact that the screen is broken up into sectors in order to accommodate the often great distances between users. The more users we get, the quicker this issue will disappear.

Q: Sometimes dots are on top of each other and I can’t open one.
What do I do?

Q: Can I see more than one line of text when I’m writing a message?

A: We are working to improve/correct all these issues in future versions.

Q: I have an unknown symbol on my screen. What do I do?

A: Give it a poke…maybe it’s a surprise.
